Blessed Savior, beautiful Being, Creator
of the souls of the human race, Mentor,
Companion in our moments of utter bliss,
Partner in our deepest despair when the kiss
Of death is upon our foreheads and agony upon hearts
in agony cries,
Our hearts cry out for the gift of eternity,
When for immortality we too cry
out, begging for more life during our pained sigh;
There being so much in our lives and yet so little,
So much more wanted on our theme, on our brittle
Happiness which we want to extend forever,
Stretching into eons our single moments
Blessed, our hearts with our loved ones there
with us always in that realm where we care
for them perpetually in perfection
all their faults healed, constructions
Their personalities molded by your Savior,
their part and your part being two
Developed during a lifetime into one
Stretching into eternity ever
Through your sacrifice upon the cross
The suffering you and your Father bore
But our gain that we might have continued
this life with only the evil discontinued,
That we might be one with you and the church
Our lives distinct but with that thread, the church
bonding us in you tying us together
in the ceremonies where we gather
After death as before death in cathedral mighty
Cathedrals built by your mind where the heights
are infinite where precious stones
gargantuan decorate in shining tones
O of immortal beauty, we are overwhelmed
by your deep love and if we have no qualms
about asking for immortality
we know you will give us lives of quality
Better than we deserve, let us live today
the best we can following the cherished way
You laid out for us in your life on Earth
Begotten by God in miraculous birth
A life of miracles and love, good deeds
and a moral example providing the seeds
by which we form our lives, striving to give
You what you want of us and to always to live
The decent life avoiding the wrongs of the people around us.
And, let us be your people
Even though we stumble and fall short
of what you expect of us. Do not depart
From us. May the Holy Spirit dwell
in our minds and provide for us the spell
which will keep us forever following the way
in which you guide us. Bring us this blessed day
The bread of your word that we may absorb it.
In you are the Word and the Bread. Have us sit
with our hearts taking in the word, the bread
In our spirits, our nourishment, you said
You loved us and we know this is always the truth.
We struggle all our lives to live within this truth.
We close this prayer now with the immortal amen
for Jesus’ Holy Name we pray, amen.
